The thing with cockroaches is that they are very productive breeders and smart in finding the best hiding spots for multiplying. If you see one or two during the day it actually is a sign of a serious infestation, because cockroaches are most active during the night.
To get rid of roaches effectively and prevent them from coming back, the problem needs to be addressed at the core — their colonies.
How do you know if you have a cockroach problem
Cockroaches are extremely adaptable and nest in dark, humid places such as crevices, kitchen or bathroom sinks, cracks, floors, roof voids or wall pockets.
Here are 5 signs of a cockroach infestation in Melbourne properties:
• Feces that could look like a tiny black pepper corn
• Egg capsules whereas every capsule can have up to 30 baby roaches
• Brown smear marks on walls and floors
• Shed skins or other body parts like limbs
• Foul smell in dark, humid places

Ant Control
Ants play a key role in nature, but when they start to invade homes and commercial sites they can become a pest. As they build their nests close to water and food sources, ants tend to grow their nests hidden inside a property or close by in a garden.
Ants often trail along bench tops, windows, skirting boards, balconies and anywhere else where they can easily access water or food. Some can bite, others can just be annoying.
No matter what ant problem you have, Household Pest Control eliminates ants from your property in an effective, safe way.

Useful things to know about ants
Ever tried a DIY method to eliminate ants, but they keep coming back? Here are some reasons why that may be the case:
• Ant colonies can quickly move when they feel under threat. That’s why you may see them reappear so easily
• One ant colony can have over a thousand ants. If you can’t locate the nest, you will have a hard time eliminating all ants
• Ants are smart little creatures. When they find a water or food source they can leave a trail for their companions that is invisible to the human eye
• Nests can be well hidden in gardens, inside walls, under floorings, beams and even concrete. Even though you may remove a trail or few ants here an there, without eliminating the nest ants will continue to come back

Rodents gnaw on anything like electrical cables and wires, ducting, pipes, food packaging made of cardboard or plastic. They even gnaw through walls, floors and doors if they are looking to find shelter, food or water.

Fleas
A very common household pest in Melbourne homes, particularly if you have pets. If your pet is constantly scratching itself it could be a sign of flea infestation. Fleas can bite both pets and humans causing itchiness. In sensitive people flea bites can cause an allergic reaction, which can result in skin rashes to difficulties breathing.
Silverfish
Silverfish can infest a property both indoors and outdoors. Inside the home these fast-moving shining critters are often found in your kitchen, bathroom, sinks, cupboards and spaces with lots of hiding spots such as a bookshelf. Sometimes they can eat a hole through clothes. Outdoors they live in garden beds, underneath stones and leaves, piles of timber and tree trunks.
Clothes moth
Did you find holes in your favourite piece of clothing? Ugh! Or maybe you noticed holes in your curtains or fabrics, damage to furniture or carpet. Clothes moths are highly likely to be behind all this. If left untreated, these little fabric eaters can demolish a whole wardrobe before you know it.
Bird control
When birds nest in or around your home, they can become a pest. If you do have a bird problem at home, do not try and solve it yourself. Birds carry over 60 diseases that are transmittable to humans with some of these diseases being life-threatening. It is important to act quickly as a bird infestation can also carry fleas. The longer a bird infestation is left untreated, the harder it will be to remove it.
Carpet beetle
Carpet beetles can infest a wide range of home items including carpets, upholstered furniture, bed sheets, blankets, pillows and clothing made out of natural fibers like wool, leather and silk. Carpet beetles prefer to feed in the dark and multiply quickly, which often leads to an infestation happening unnoticed.
Millipedes
If you have noticed a few millipedes in your home there is highly likely going to be an infestation. Millipedes breed in huge numbers and they do it quickly. When millipedes feel threatened they discharge a yellowish liquid which has a powerful (not so nice) smell, which can stain clothes. It can also irritate skin and eyes if come into direct contact with.
Stored pest
As one of the most common pest problems, stored product pests make themselves comfortable in pantries and store bought dried foods. They are most likely to infest items that are left open, but can easily chew through packaging. The most common dried food products they infest are cereal, dried fruit, dried meats, herbs and spices, nuts, tea and even chocolate.
